Description:
Maine Center is the only community mental health and substance abuse provider in Maine Township. We provide Case Management, Clinic Services, Psychotropic Medication Monitoring, Psychosocial Rehabilitation Day Services, Supported Living, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Services, and Substance Abuse Services. We also maintain a 24 hour, 365 days a year crisis hot line.
History:
Maine Center was founded in 1966 under the name The Maine Township Mental Health Association by local residents who shared a vision of having a comprehensive mental health organization. In 1968 the organization obtained funding from Maine Township and the Illinois Department of Human Services. The agency merged with Park Ridge Counseling Services in 1975 to form the Maine Family Service and Mental Health Association. In 1988 that name was shortened to Maine Center for Mental Health. In 1997 the agency was first accredited by CARF. In 2002 the organization acquired Maine Township Center on Addictions and shortened our name again to Maine Center to encompass the agencies broader range of services.
