Consumer Assistance Program/Vermont Legal Aid
Do you feel frustrated when you hear about Vermont seniors losing their money through scams or to unscrupulous businesses? Are you looking for a way to help? Take the Consumer Assistance Program class at UVM and learn practical consumer rights and remedies. Use the information to help people through Vermont’s Consumer Hotline. Learn how to reach out to other seniors in your community so they will know their rights and avoid getting taken advantage of by scams and unlawful business practices. The class is held once a week at UVM during the semester and students will be asked to train and volunteer for the Consumer Assistance Program hotline for eight hours each week. The class is free for Seniors over age 65 and may be available free of charge for those of retirement age, but under 65.
