C.I.D.E.R.
Champlain Islanders Developing Essential Resources, Inc. (C.I.D.E.R.) provides services designed to allow persons with special needs (elders and persons with disabilities) in Grand Isle County to live with dignity, security, and independence within their own homes.
Description:
C.I.D.E.R. provides wheelchair accessible transportation services, operates a community meals program (including Meals On Wheels), designs and builds home accessibility projects including wheelchair ramps, collects and loans pieces of special needs equipment (such as walkers and wheelchairs), sponsors exercise programs such as the Tufts Strong Living Program, provides end-of-life information and education through the "Flashlight" Program, manages a pool of volunteers providing assistance such as "friendly visits", reassurance calls, pet and plant care and snow shoveling, partners with HomeShare Vermont to promote homesharing as a housing alternative in Grand Isle County, and publishes a monthly newsletter "THE C.I.D.E.R. PRESS".
