The Ethan Allen Homestead strives to enrich the present through exploration of the past. We exist to manage and maintain the Ethan Allen Homestead Historic Site for purposes of research and education through such activities as collection, display and interpretation of historic materials, archaeological investigation and public programs. The Homestead is an educational resource for all Vermont learners, providing a multi-disciplinary approach to history and opportunities for lifelong learning.

Description:
We serve over 5,000 school children annually with hands-on history lessons about the settlement of early Vermont. We also provide guided tours of Ethan Allen's Burlington home. The farmhouse, historic gardens, descriptive exhibits and tavern show reveal the man, the myths and a true measure of his place in Vermont history to visitors from around the world. The Homestead provides a genuine slice of 18th century life and an intimate look at Vermont's most colorful and controversial founder.
