South Burlington High School's Career Development Center (CDC)
MISSION STATEMENT: to provide assistance and resources to students and alumni for their life-long career development.

Description:
CDC programs have been offered to students since 1982 and have included placements in a wide variety of community service and work experiences in business, social service and health agencies, government, education, and service industries. Programs occur throughout the year, lasting in duration according to students' needs. Each program is designed to fit the individuals' talents, prior training, background, skills and personal goals.

Many students use the vast CDC options to explore possible career choices or personal passions. Students who have decided on specific careers, use the CDC programs to strengthen future job skills and gain a competitive edge in the job market. Whatever the students' motivations, CDC programs have been highly successful educational experiences and the CDC is committed to expanding the program still further.

The CDC has been designated as the clearinghouse for all external career-related opportunities. The office is charge with the development of a more comprehensive approach to the "world of work."

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPTIONS: Big Buddy, Tutoring and Volunteers in Action (VIA)

CAREER EXPLORATION OPTIONS: Mentoring, Shadowing, Internships and Senior Challenge (capstone) course.
