First Night brings the community together with an affordable, substance-free New Year's Eve celebration centered on the lively arts.

Description:
New Year's Eve celebrates a special moment in time when we share the passage from the old year to the new. First Night is therefore the perfect time for our community to connect and celebrate the rich diversity of the arts, both traditional and cutting-edge. First Night joins artists and our community in Burlington's largest one-day celebration of the arts--we will be presenting over 100 different day and evening performances in the 12 hours between noon and midnight! All 20 venues are in downtown Burlington within easy walking distance of each other.

We present dance, theater, comedy, circus acts, storytelling, art-making, fireworks and a parade, and of course, music of all kinds--from hip hop to folk, from jazz to cabaret, from new world to hard rock, from bluegrass to opera. It's a lively, participatory festival that brings together people of all ages--adults, teens, and children. It's a celebration of spirit, creativity and diversity!

To do all this, we need over 300 volunteers to join the First Night community and welcome in 2010!! As a volunteer, you will be the heart of First Night, our link to the community and our performers.

And, as our way of saying thanks, all volunteers get a FREE FIRST NIGHT BUTTON for admission to all events!
