United Way Of Chittenden County Volunteer Center
To build a stronger Chittenden County by mobilizing our community to improve people's lives.
Description:
The mission of the United Way is to build a stronger Chittenden County by mobilizing our community to improve people’s lives. The United Way of Chittenden County Volunteer Center addresses this mission through:
• Recruiting and referring individuals to satisfying volunteer opportunities.
• Providing volunteer management assistance, consultation and training to nonprofit organizations.
The United Way of Chittenden County Volunteer Center works with anyone who wants to volunteer and with any nonprofit organization or public agency in Chittenden County. Organizations must register with us online and sign a paper Agency Agreement which outlines specific requirements of participation. We are able to recruit for a wide variety of volunteer opportunities; however, we cannot recruit for positions that displace or replace paid employees, impair existing contracts for service work or includes engaging in religious activities, partisan politics, or union activity.
The United Way of Chittenden County Volunteer Center has three specific programs that work together to provide the best of volunteer recruitment, referral and management services to our community.
The Volunteer Connection works with all organizations registered with us and refers adults, youth, and families, as well as groups of employees, students, clubs and others to meaningful volunteer opportunities.
RSVP of Chittenden County works with selected agencies and provides adults 55 and over with personalized, one-to-one service to find rewarding and satisfying volunteer opportunities to match their unique skills, talents and interests.
The Foster Grandparent Program matches adults 60 and over in Chittenden, Franklin, Grand Isle and Washington Counties with meaningful volunteer opportunities with children at schools, child care centers and other sites.
