Vermont Foodbank
The mission of the Vermont Foodbank is to gather and share quality food and nurture partnerships that will end hunger in Vermont.
Description:
The Vermont Foodbank, the state's largest hunger-relief organization, opened its doors in 1986. Since that time we have grown from serving a network of 8 agencies to 270 Network Partners statewide. The Foodbank acts as a distribution center by providing donated food to food shelves, meal sites, senior centers, shelters and after-school programs throughout Vermont. Last year, the Foodbank distributed nearly 6.5 million pounds of food to more than 66,000 hungry Vermonters. Because demand for charitable food is on the rise, the Vermont Foodbank and our Network Partners continue to look for ways to better serve our hungry neighbors. Through programs like The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), the Foodbank reaches out to seniors, children, and working families in need.
