| Description: |

Essex CHIPS is seeking adults with connections to the Essex, Essex Junction, and/or Westford communities (either through residence or work) to serve on our dynamic youth/adult Board. No formal experience is necessary, but Board and/or non-profit experience is a plus. Duties include: General Expectations
- Become familiar with the organization’s mission, history, purposes, goals, policies, programs, finances, relationships, strengths, and needs.
- Become familiar with Board By-laws.
- Willingness and ability to dedicate, on average, 4 hours/month for Board and Committee work.
- Read and sign conflict of interest statement
Meetings
- Consistently prepare for and participate in board and committee meetings.
- Ask timely and substantive questions; support majority decisions.
- Maintain confidentiality and speak for the organization when authorized.
- Suggest agenda items to ensure significant, policy-related matters are addressed.
Fiduciary Responsibilities
- Faithfully read and understand financial statements.
- Assist in implementing fund-raising strategies.
- Make a personal donation to Essex CHIPS during our Annual Fundraising Campaign
Community Ambassadors
- Actively communicate your knowledge of the organization to your friends, acquaintances and the larger community.
- Plan to attend a minimum of two CHIPS events each year to increase your knowledge and awareness of the organization’s activities and demonstrate strong board support for the organization.
- Board members will be representing Essex CHIPS and our mission within the local community and are asked to conduct themselves accordingly.
