Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on May 18, 2009

Volunteer English language tutors help refugee newcomers learn English. Though most of our clients are multilingual, many have a low English proficiency and are eager to learn to increase their level of self-sufficiency in their new home. Tutors are paired with a client who is unable to attend VRRP English classes. Volunteers commit to at least two hours each week of in-home tutoring. The only requirement necessary is to speak English fluently! Materials and support are available from VRRP.

We ask that everyone attends an Open House before volunteering, where we discuss our organization and Volunteer Program, as well as give people the opportunity to speak about their specific interests. Open Houses are held weekly; dates and times can be found by contacting us. Other types of support and training are available but not mandatory.
