Community Clean up for South Burlington Schools Court Community Service
Powered by Truist

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on March 10, 2009

The South Burlington School District takes pride in providing an institution of academic excellence and creating an atmosphere that is student friendly and aesthetically pleasing. Currently there is a wooded area between the Middle School and Dorset Street that is overrun with underbrush and decaying trees. Many individuals have expressed an interest in having this area cleaned up, and because our students cut through this area, some have even conveyed a concern to the safety of this area because it is dense and the visibility from the road and parking lot is poor. A plan is being designed to clean up this section which will be conducted in a multi-phased project to eventually include gardens, benches, tables, and walkways. The first phase will include the removal of dead trees, clearing of underbrush and debris, and a selective thinning of trees. At this time, we are looking for volunteers to help with the removal of the underbrush and debris. All large trees will already have been removed and there will be no need to handle any major equipment.
