Volunteer Opportunity Details:

The Receiver is an important position as she/he is the first responder to incoming food and donations. The receiver plays a vital role in maintaining the flow of operations in the warehouse and distribution, as well as communicating any issues or concerns to the Coordinators thus helping to prevent possible problems.
Duties:

  1. Greet donors and deliveries as they arrive. Very Important! 
  2. Assist the unloading of trucks and vehicles and distributing of donations to proper places.
  3. Ensure proper weights are taken.
  4. Maintain accurate logs of weights and paperwork as donations and deliveries arrive.
  5. Maintain the cleanliness of receiving area:
  6. Monitor bread and produce stock in distribution.
  7. Assisting stockers when help is needed filling shelves or rotating and shelving product.
  8. Interest in helping people; sensitivity to the problems and issues of homeless, food insecure, and low-income individuals; good communication skills; non-judgmental; polite mannerism, ability to function in an often busy environment, good organizational and writing skills are required for this volunteer opportunity.
