Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on October 20, 2009

Answer phones at our hospice house. The majority of calls come in for staff, including the director, volunteer coordinator, and nursing staff. Most callers are looking to speak with a particular person, or asking for information about location, visiting hours, etc. Phone call volume is light at times, but there are three lines that can ring. Now and then a call needs to be transferred to portable phone and brought down to a resident's room. Volunteers can either sit at a desk and read during calls, or can spend time in the House common area attending to little tidying projects like watering plants and dusting.

We recommend new reception volunteers spend two hours or so listening to the volunteer coordinator fielding calls. A full tour of the House is also offered.

This opportunity is sponsored by: Vermont Respite House
