Activities Assistant for Rehab Unit
Powered by Truist

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on June 3, 2009

We are looking for an upbeat, self-motivated individual to spend 45-min.-1 hour per week conducting an activity for a small group of residents on our Rehab Unit. Activity can be different each time, for example, crossword puzzle, trivia contest, horseshoes, etc. All games would be provided but choices are left to the volunteer. We would like to fill 2 blocks of time, both at 2:30 p.m. any weekday except Friday. This could be 2 volunteers once a week or 1 volunteer twice a week. This would free up our staff to spend more time on necessary facility documentation.

Volunteer needs good rapport with elder population, should be upbeat and enthusiastic to engage with others. A loud, clear voice that carries well with hearing impaired residents is important. Dedication and reliability are a must. We provide a facility tour and Alzheimer's training to our volunteers (if they feel the need), a brief orientation to rules, policies and common situations is also provided.

This opportunity is sponsored by: Birchwood Terrace
