Volunteer 2-1-1 Call Takers join an on-call telephone response team that assists 2-1-1 staff in answering calls in the event of an incident or emergency affecting one or more Vermont towns. The Volunteer Call Taker’s role is to establish rapport with the caller and, through assessment and referral skills acquired in our training program, assist the caller in coping with the current situation. 2-1-1 Volunteer Call Takers often assist callers by providing appropriate information and referrals to community resources and services. Volunteer Call Takers may also answer calls from spontaneous volunteers and donors who want to help or donate goods after an incident or emergency affecting Vermont. Volunteer Call Takers must accurately record all contacts in accordance with 2-1-1 program policies and procedures. Volunteer Call Takers must have an understanding of client confidentiality and agree to follow program policies regarding clients' rights.
