Operation Happiness is is a community activity that is completely run by volunteers and provides over 1000 Franklin and Grand Isle County families in need with food baskets and toys for the holiday season. Volunteers are needed for taking applications over the phone,picking up area donations, sorting toys and food, and packing boxes. Phone applications are taken the week of Nov. 23, 2009 and sorting and packing are ongoing from Dec 1 - Dec 12. The toys and food are given out at several points throughout Franklin and Grand Isle Counties, and distribution will be scheduled Dec 12th in St Albans and additional locations may be the 12th or 19th of December. Knitted winter items i.e. hats, scarves, mittens are also needed for inclusion in these holiday baskets and can be dropped off at the Franklin-Grand Isle office.
