Volunteer Opportunity Details:
| Last updated on March 9, 2009 |
Many seniors live alone and have no social contact network. They would love to have a visitor once a week for an hour or so. CVAA is recruiting volunteers to provide companionship to these seniors through one-on-one visits. CVAA staff work with prospective volunteers to find the right placement. Schedules are flexible; volunteer and senior agree on mutually convenient frequency and time/day to meet. Benefits include enjoying a relationship that is rewarding to both you and your new friend, seeing the difference you make in someone's life, contributing to the greater good of your community, obtaining experience working with seniors, and receiving ongoing support and recognition from CVAA staff. Seniors reside in Addison, Chittenden, Franklin, and Grand Isle counties. Requirements include ability to converse with people of all backgrounds and philosophies, ability to understand and practice confidentiality under all circumstances, dependability and accountability, ability to accept senior direction and to set clear, reasonable boundaries. This opportunity is sponsored by: CVAA
