There are several ways that youth under age 18 can help at COTS. Here are some of them: Get involved in the COTS Walk! The COTS Walk takes place every year on the first Sunday of May, starting at 2 pm, from Battery Park in Burlington. We need student leaders to organize Walk Teams from your school, help with Walk publicity, and assist with site management on the day of the Walk at Battery Park. Work as a "runner" during our annual Winter Phonathon, which takes place just after Thanksgiving for 6 evenings Prepare and bring lunch to the Daystation! The Daystation is the daytime drop-in center for adults that is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can sign up to food a meal for up to 50 adults, then drop it off around noon on your assigned date. Some ideas include lasagna and salad, pre-made sandwiches and fruit, hearty soups and bread, etc. Please note that you must be at least 18 to be in the Daystation other than to drop off meals or other donations. Organize a drive for new socks, nonperishable foods, or art & school supplies, then bring your donations to COTS. For a list of items currently in need, visit www.cotsonline.org. Other ideas on how youth can help at COTS are posted on our website, www.cotsonline.org.
Volunteers must be 18 years to be in COTS shelters. In some circumstances, youth under 16 years old may volunteer for events if accompanied by an adult. Free free to call with questions. This opportunity is sponsored by: Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS)
