Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Volunteers help elders with tasks such as painting or building projects, minor household repairs, etc. Past projects include: repairing a hole in the interior floor of a mobile home, caulking roll-in shower to prevent leakage into basement, repair hole in bedroom door and wall, add "lip" to bottom and top of ramp, install front door on mobile home, repair exterior steps. Benefits include the opportunity to share your skills with others, see the difference you make in someone's life, obtain experience working with seniors, and receive ongoing support and recognition from CVAA staff. Seniors reside in Chittenden, Addison, Franklin and Grand Isle counties.

General handyman skills are needed. Materials will be provided, but volunteers may need to provide their own tools. Requirements also include the ability to converse with people of all backgrounds and philosophies, dependability and accountability to seniors, ability to accept senior direction, and ability to set clear, reasonable boundaries.
