AARP Tax-Aide/Maine
The AARP Tax-Aide program provides free personal income tax assistance to low and moderate income taxpayers, with special attention to those 60 and older.
Description:
AARP Tax-Aide volunteers are trained and certified using IRS provided materials. Volunteers must take and pass a test each year in order to help taxpayers prepare their federal and state income tax returns. All returns are filed electronically, using IRS provided software, at no cost to taxpayers.
History:
The AARP Foundation is the charitiable arm of the AARP organization. AARP Tax-Aide has been in existence for more than 40 years.
