City of Bloomington Council for Community Accessibility

The Council for Community Accessibility advocates on behalf of people with disabilities, promotes local awareness of the challenges faced by people with disabilities, and works to develop solutions to problems of accessibility in the community.

Description:
Formerly known as the Community Council on Handicap Concerns, the CCA was formed in 1990. Members of the Council have a personal interest in accessibility issues. Many have disabilities themselves or are family members of those with disabilities. Others work in agencies that help people with disabilities, or are simply interested in helping people with disabilities. With a varied background, some members have graduated from Leadership Bloomington-Monroe County and Partners in Policymaking with COVOH. Others have completed classes offered by the ADA Training Network. One member is an Indiana Civil Rights Commissioner.

The CCA holds public meetings at City Hall at Showers Plaza, 401 N. Morton Street, Bloomington, Indiana. Please contact Craig Brenner (812-349-3471) or Sue Owens (812-349-3468) for details.
