MCCSC Adult Education/Broadview Learning Center
Logo

The Monroe County Community School Corporation's Adult Education program at Broadview Learning Center offers individualized instruction and guidance to teen and adult learners who seek to improve their basic skills or learn new ones in order to create better opportunities for themselves and their families. In essence, this is where teens and adults can go back to their future!

Description:
MCCSC Adult Education offers many services to local residents, including literacy, basic skills improvement, preparation for the GED® exam, GED® testing, English as a Second Language (ESL), the Teen Learning Center (alternative teen learning), homework help, evening computer classes, a Reading Lab, and support for ESL families. Most classes are free. Every participant works at learning progress and success in an environment of trust and acceptance. Outcomes reflect what the students need in the real world to live full, productive lives.

History:
MCCSC Adult Education has been offering its services to the Bloomington Community since 1965, growing from a very small evening program with fewer than 50 participants to a full-service day and evening program with over 1300 students annually. The GED® Testing Center tests more than 400 examinees annually and boasts a 78% passing rate. In the TLC in 2007, students earned 149 high school credits, completed 30 high school diplomas, and obtained more than 100 GED® certificates. And ESL students come from over 300 countries to learn English as a new language. Broadview Learning Center, the beautiful new home of Adult Ed, was completed in the summer of 2006, so almost all programs are now collected under one roof, located on the BT #2 South bus route. Its spacious Community Rooms are available for use. Come see its famous wall murals!
