Description:
Deep Roots Animal Sanctuary is a nonprofit animal sanctuary and animal rights advocacy group based in Southern Indiana. We are a grassroots organization dedicated to animal and earth liberation.

History:
Deep Roots Animal Sanctuary started as the Western North Carolina Animal Sanctuary in 2004. In 2006, the founding members decided to bring something back to their roots in the Midwest. In the summer of 2006, we were incorporated as Deep Roots in the state of Indiana. In December 2007, we took possession of 150 acres of land outside of Spencer.
