Dr. King's words and deeds illustrated his commitment to justice, equality, and non-violence. It is in this spirit that we are promoting 40 Days of Peace, and we urge you to join us! The 40 Days of Peace begin on Martin Luther King Day, January 19, 2009 and run for six weeks. During 40 Days of Peace, we ask individuals, families, students, community organizations, neighborhoods and law enforcement agencies to promote greater cooperation and to work toward a sustainable reduction in violence in our communities.
