to serve 30 children currently waiting for a CASA.

Become a CASA Volunteer!  Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a volunteer powered program that provides representation in juvenile court for abused and neglected children.  CASA volunteers gather information about the child, help identify needs and possible services, and monitor court orders and case plans to help the child find a safe, loving home.  CASA volunteers advocate for children to ensure that they remain at the forefront of the court proceedings and find a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible.  CASA is the voice of a child in court. 

The next CASA training is March 23 –April 18, 2009, Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 9pm, and Saturday mornings 9am-noon.   Learn more, request an application or register online here.   CASA is a program of Family Service Association; A United Way Agency. 

Application deadline is March 13, 2009. 

The requirements to become a CASA volunteer are:

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older
• Commit to one to two years of service after completing training
• Willing to travel to surrounding counties, have a valid driver's license and have a vehicle
• Have daytime flexibility to attend court hearings and case related meetings. 
• The average time commitment is 10-15 hours a month
