SPRING FUNDRAISING RUNS/WALKS IN BLOOMINGTON

IU Habitat for Humanity 5k Run/Walk
Date: March 28, 2009
Location: Lower Cascades Park (2851 N. Old State Road 37)
Transportation: Busses/vans will be available to drive those who need rides.  Two pick-up locations will be available: (1) from Circle Drive; (2) from the West/Memorial Stadium parking lot.  Parking will be available at Cascades.
Description: Help eliminate substandard housing.
Activities: A beautiful 3.1 mile route; Excellent Raffle Prizes & Giveaways
Fundraising: Registration Fee: ($20 / $10 grade 6 or under; All early registration runners/walkers receive a great T-Shirt)

IU Circle of Life Mini-Marathon

Date: April 4, 2009
Location: IU Assembly Hall
Description: Honors former Kelley School of Business professor, Bill Z. Littlefield. This is the only student-run marathons in Indiana, and funds one of the largest scholarships in the nation for cancer survivors.
Activities:
Entertainment, Greek Challenge, Training
Fundraising: Donations; Registration Fee: Mini- ($30 Early & $35 Late); 5k Run/Walk ($20 Early & $25 Late)

American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Indiana University
Date:
April 4-5, 2009 - 4 p.m. (4/4) - 8 a.m. (4/5)
Location: Billy Hayes Track
Description:  Have you ever wanted to stay up all night with your closest friends? Do you want to have fun while making a difference? The American Cancer Society Relay For Life® is your chance to meet new people, make lasting friendships, and join the fight against cancer. Because 20 years from now it's not the exams you'll remember!
Activities: Food; Music; Entertainment
Fundraising: Individual Contributions; Sponsorships (All participants who register by Monday, March 2nd will be eligible for an event t-shirt.)

Homeward Bound Walk

Date: April 19, 2009
Location: 3rdStreet Park
Description: A statewide fundraising walk sponsored by the City of Bloomington to provide housing and fight homelessness. Funds benefit 13 local social service agencies which serve the homeless population in Bloomington and are used directly for services such as shelter, food, and emergency assistance.
Activities: walk; entertainment; food; WonderLab Museum; clowns; face painting; VIP introductions
Fundraising: No entry fee. Participants raise funds through pledges.

Stone Belt Run with Me
Date: April 25, 2009
Location: Stone Belt 2815 East 10th Street Bloomington, IN
Description: Funds support Stone Belt's programs of excellence which enable individuals with developmental disabilities achieve meaningful outcomes.
Activities: Post-race Celebration with complimentary food, music, and door prizes
Fundraising: Registration Fee: 5k ($18 Early, $20 Late); 1 Mile Walk ($15)

March of Dimes - March for Babies
Date: May 3, 2009
Location: Bloomington High School South Stadium
Description: March for Babies on May 3rd from 12-2:30 p.m. is our annual community fundraising walk. Families who have been affected by premature birth, birth defects, or infant mortality come out and walk with community members, business partners, and Bloomington leaders and raise funds for the mission of the March of Dimes.
Volunteer opportunities include:
--Organizing a walk team (an informal group of family and friends or coworkers) and raising funds for the March of Dimes.
--Signing up to walk in March for Babies. Easy - just go online www.marchforbabies.org
--Volunteering to help out with the March for Babies event.
--Serving on the March for Babies planning committee.

If you're an IU student, this is one of the first years that the walk has taken place before summer vacation. We're excited to have an IU Bloomington team this year and would love for you sign up online to come out and walk with your friends.
