The Hoosier National Forest is again sponsoring the Take Pride in America celebration to increase people's awareness of their National Forest and allow people an opportunity to contribute to taking care of their public lands.

YOU can make a difference!

Take Pride in America will kick off at 9 a.m. on May 2nd at Shelterhouse #1 in Hardin Ridge Recreation Area. Volunteers are welcome to participate individually or as a group.

There will be several different types of projects for all ages: working on pond sites, maintaining trails, planting wildflowers in a native seed nursery, tree planting and picking up litter.

There will be a free cookout for all volunteers at Shelterhouse #1 following the workday. Appreciation certificates and other awards will be given out following the cookout.

Transporation will be provided to the work sites, however, space is limited so groups may need to be transported in personal vehicles. Please be sure to wear sturdy boots, long pants and gloves and bring a sack lunch, water and a friend!

All participants are invited to camp FREE of charge at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area on both Friday and Saturday nights (May 1 & 2).

Read more about this opportunity or register to participate here.

Sponsored by Hoosier National Forest.
