HELP SOMEONE LEARN TO READ - CHANGE A LIFE FOREVER!

Volunteers in Tutoring Adult Learners (VITAL) volunteers provide free, confidential, individual reading assistance, tutoring and encouragement for adults and out-of-school young people with reading difficulties. Tutors must attend a comprehensive training prior to volunteering. A commitment of two hours per week for six months is requested.

3-Part Training Workshop:

Part 1 - September 26, 9am-1pm
Overview of basic literacy instruction, tutoring strategies, and resources. Also, advice from experienced tutors.

Part 2 - September 27, 1-5pm
Continued overview of basic literacy instruction, tutoring strategies, and resources. Also, advice from experienced tutors.

Part 3 - October 3, 9:30am-12 Noon
Practice using the Bader Reading and Language Inventory. Learn how to use this information to focus tutoring, to plan lessons, and to demonstrate outcomes.

Workshops cover a wide range of tutoring of Adult learning needs and tutoring strategies.  All workshops are held at the Monroe County Public Library located at 303 E. Kirkwood Ave. in VITAL Program Room 2A.
