History:
Founded in November 1997 as a non-profit organization by a group of teachers, businessmen and citizens to support and promote education and to represent the Latin-American community in local affairs. The Latin American Community Alliance (ACLA) is formed eleven years ago by a group of educators, business persons, and private citizens to address increasing needs for the education and wellbeing of our children and all the people who live in the NW GA region; among the first of it’s kind in Georgia, ACLA has now served as the model for similar organizations across the state and in several nations. The ongoing programs organized and presented by ACLA have served to improve the quality of life for all residents of NW Georgia and have been noted for this accomplishment by national organizations and media. In partnership with other community organizations we extend our message and influence beyond our immediate surroundings, bringing enlightenment to people of many communities. ACLA members are from all social, political, economic and ethnic designations and our membership reflects the rich variety of nationalities and heritages found in the citizenry of the greater Dalton/North Georgia area.
