Be a BIG in a LITTLE's life!!!

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on August 20, 2009

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Georgia Mountain are in need of adults to volunteer to spend time with children. We have two programs available: Buddy Program and the Community Program.
The Buddy program is a manageable 45-minute to one hour weekly visit with a child in the school. This program has been proved to be a great self-esteem builder for many at-risk children. The children are identified by school teachers and counselors as students who could benefit from a positive relationship with a role model.
The Community program is based on the volunteer's time and the youth's needs. The volunteers are asked to see the youth on a regular basis. The Big and Little decide when they'll see each other and all matches are assigned a professional case manager to oversee the relationship and assist with any need which may surface during the life of the match. The agency sponsors monthly activities for the matches and the waiting Littles. This includes baseball games, picnics, field trips, holiday parties and other recreational and educational events. If you are interested please call (706) 278-0702

For the Buddy program you have to be: at least 15 years of age, a resident of service area for six months, permission to conduct police check, attend orientation, interview, written permission and agreement to follow agency policies, contact with child in the school setting only, If adult high school graduate or GED, If high school student must maintain GPA, references
