Welcome to the 16th Annual Foothills United Way's Day of Caring
Day of Caring is one of the largest one-day volunteer efforts annually in
Boulder and Broomfield counties. Local volunteers are paired with nonprofits to
complete a variety of much needed projects. 2008 was a record-setting year
for Day of Caring, with more than 900 participants donating
nearly $73,000 worth of volunteer time on one day!
Get Involved. Any company, community
group, social group or individual interested in making a difference can
volunteer for Day of Caring. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
UNITE your organization. Day of
Caring volunteers provide thousands of hours of service and valuable skills to
agencies in our community, allowing those agencies to serve more clients more
efficiently.
For your business or organization, Day of Caring provides a simple, effective
and highly visible way to demonstrate strong corporate citizenship, community
leadership and a culture of philanthropy. It also provides great teambuilding
opportunities for employee groups - something outside the office to collaborate
on and feel good about.
Sign up. Choose a project. Make a difference. Day
of Caring volunteers can take part in a wide variety of projects. Some may
deliver meals to homebound persons, or help glean crops that will be used to
provide fresh vegetables to those in need of food. Some may help organize files
in a health clinic or repair and repaint a building that provides emergency
shelter. From construction to landscaping, from human service to arts and
crafts, there is something for every volunteer - something that will make a
lasting impact on many lives.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will Your Service Cost Anything for Volunteers?
The online database is completely free of charge for volunteers that want to use it.
What Are All These Forms?
It may look tedious, but filling out the forms really isn't so bad, and it's the comprehensive information we collect from you on these forms that makes our unique search engine possible. The Agency Signup Form allows you to describe your organization at the top level. Your mission, your structure and your history all have a place here. The Opportunity Signup Form allows you to give a very specific description of a single volunteer opportunity or event at your organization. It is up to you to fill out as many copies of this form as you have distinct opportunities.
How Does Your Site Work?
It's simple. Someone is interested in volunteering. They come to our site and tell us where they are located, what social issues interest them, what skills they can apply and what time constraints they have. Our web site instantly and automatically returns them a list of the volunteer opportunities that best fit their profile. The volunteer will then read through the descriptions and pick an opportunity that is of interest. The volunteer has all the information to contact your agency and from there it's up to them to call and up to you to answer.
Can I Search for Volunteers Directly?
Though we are often asked, we do not support this option. You have a number of ways to post information with us, but then you must wait for the volunteers to contact you. Please contact your local Volunteer Center to see if they have a program that supports this option.
What Sort of Volunteers Will I Get?
Volunteers come to this web site from every walk of life. You will find high school students, college students, professionals in various fields, homemakers, retired people, corporate executives and employees of other nonprofits. Anyone looking to make a difference may come to this web site.
How Can I Help You Grow?
There are a number of ways you can help. Mention us to your friends at other nonprofit agencies. The more nonprofits we get signed up, the more publicity we can get and the more volunteers we can attract. Mention us to your volunteers. The more people who register information with our site, the more information we can provide to nonprofits to help improve their programs.
