Blue Sky Bridge strives to protect children from child abuse through intervention services and child sexual abuse prevention programs. We create an environment where healing can begin.
Description:
Blue Sky Bridge is a child advocacy center that seeks to decrease trauma experienced by children and families at the onset of child abuse investigations by providing immediate intervention, forensic interviews, crisis intervention counseling, family support and follow-up services to child victims and non-offending family members. Our Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Program strives to break the cycle of child sexual abuse through education programs for parents, professionals and the public. Our classes are available in Spanish and English and are suitable for anyone wanting to learn more about child abuse and sexual abuse prevention.
History:
Blue Sky Bridge was incorporated after years of work by the Boulder County Childhood Sexual Abuse Task Force and the Child Advocacy Center Committee. The Task Force was comprised of representatives of the agencies mandated to respond to reports of child abuse and neglect, and focused on addressing identified system and service delivery problems. The agency attained its 501(c)(3) status in 1995 and opened a facility in Niwot in 1996. Within a few years, the organization began doing business under the name Blue Sky Bridge. The agency moved to Boulder in 2001, where we are now more centrally located to accommodate the needs of all Boulder County municipalities. In 2005, Blue Sky Bridge was awarded full accreditation by the National Children’s Alliance (NCA), which ensures that we operate according to the best practices of Children’s Advocacy Centers across the country.
