Description:
Riverfront is a private, nonprofit organization that provides support and training to people with disabilities and challenges so they can live independently, work and earn paychecks and be a part of the community as workers, neighbors and friends.

Riverfront provides employment and community living services in Jackson, La Crosse, Trempealeau, Buffalo, Monroe, Rock, Winona, Houston and Wabasha Counties. Benefit Counseling services are provided in 37 counties in Wisconsin. Riverfront serves people with developmental and physical disabilities, mental illnesses and other challenges. Riverfront is accredited by CARF.

History:
Riverfront began in 1977 providing services for adults with disabilities. In 1986, the Community Resource Program was created to provide non-vocational day services. In 1988, enclave services in the industrial, janitorial, clerical and food service areas began. In 1999, the administrative offices move from Green Bay Street and Fifth Avenue to the new building on South Avenue. In 2000, Social Security benefits planning and counseling services are provided to 33 counties. In 2002, production was moved to the new Work and Community Center at 3000 South Avenue and the first Sand on the Riverfront took place in Riverside Park in August. In 2006, Riverfront adopted a new promise statement--"We maximize the independence and full potential of those we serve". More than 3,200 people are currently served. 182 individuals are employed in the La Crosse Work and Community Center.
