American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, that provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. It does this through services that are consistent with its congressional charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Description:
There are several areas within disaster services that one can help with. The Disaster Action Team (DAT), Disaster Volunteer, and teaching community disaster preparedness. Would you like to experience a blood drive first hand? We have a community blood drive every two months. This is a great way to be involved with something that is truly helping save lives. You can help set up and bring equipment needed, cook the BBQ, serve in the canteen, or help register donors. To inquire further on any volunteer opportunities please give our Volunteer Coordinator a call.
History:

Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace among peoples. Impartiality: It makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class, or political opinions. Neutrality: The Movement may not take sides in hostilities or engage in any type of controversies of a political, racial, religious, or ideological nature. Independence: The Movement is independent. Voluntary Service: The International Red Cross and the Red Crescent Movement are voluntary. Unity: There can only be one Red Cross society in any one country. It must be open to all.
