Coulee Children's Center

The Coulee Children's Center offers Early Intervention, Therapy and Child Care Services provided by pediatric specialists. We give children and their families the opportunity to gain self-confidence by encouraging the child's cognitive, physical and social development.

Description:
Our Early Intervention Program has contracts to provide services in the counties of La Crosse, Vernon and Monroe. All of the Early Intervention takes place in the child's home or other settings such as a day care.

The Child Care Program provides state-licensed care for children ages 4 weeks to 12 years of age. Within the Child Care Program we offer developmentally appropriate preschool activities, field trips and other community activities.

History:
The Coulee Children's Center began over 35 years ago, to provide support and stimulation for young children with developmental disabilities and their families. It originally was focused only on children with special needs. In 1987 a child care program was started. By 1989 the early intervention and child care were offering services in an integrated manner. In 1998 the State of WI mandated that all Birth to Three services be provided in the "child's natural environment." At that time the Early Intervention staff began going out to families' homes or child care settings to provide services. The child care continues to provide excellent child care for children of all abilities.
