Achor Center, Inc provides transitional and permanent affordable housing for single homeless women, women with children, seniors, and grandparents raising grandchildren. Achor provides a model of intervention in a safe and nurturing environment with a comprehensive strategy of supportive services to promote economic independence and participation in mainstream society.

Description:
Achor Center provides an environment where participants are able to develop and maintain appropriate life skills by becoming regularly engaged in constructive activities that promote positive family and community lifestyles. Through services offered, we seek integration of independent, successful families back into the community.

History:
Achor Center, Inc. was established in 1988 as an emergency shelter for homeless women. Achor initially provided temporary shelter to assist women in evading homelessness. In the last several years, Achor has expanded into a transitional and permanent housing facility providing long-term housing and support for the homeless.
