Volunteer Opportunity Details:

On October 23, 2009 Fresh Start for Women will begin its Fresh Start Retreat. This event is specifically for victims of domestic violence and is aimed at helping women refocus and start the process of redefining their lives. The Retreat starts with Spa Night in which women who have been accustomed to physical, emotional and spiritual abuse are welcomed to a tranquil place to be pampered by our volunteer staff providing, manicures, facials, pedicures and massages. Spa Night is from 6pm to 8:30pm.

The ideal massage therapist must provide their own massage chair/table.

It was extremely eye-opening and rewarding.

Fresh Start for Women works to help victims of domestic violence regain their sense of self and purpose. Their goal is to rebuild self-esteem through education and counseling in small support group settings. I recently volunteered during their Creating a Healthier You...Mind Body and Spirit conference. I had the pleasure of showing ladies that even small changes in excercise and mindset can propel them to a better state of being. Watching the founder interact with the women and listening as she shared her own story of victory really touched a chord not only with me but with the ladies in attendance. Fresh Start for Women who are ready to release the abuse of the past

I had the privilege to empower women thru the Fresh Start program by discussing each one's personality strenghts. In addition to teach women the 8 principles of health by using the acronym NEW START. Janice Pettigrew and her team of volunteers help victims to appreciate who they are, where they have been, where they can go thru the principles of applying a Fresh Start and how precious each one of them are. posted by slim7ds on October 21, 2008
