Reading Tutor/Mentor for First Grade Students

Reading tutors are needed to help build the reading skills and self-esteem of one or two struggling first grade students. Reading Saturday tutors/mentors are paired with one or two students for one hour. In that time, students will read a book and do vocabulary and comprehension exercises. Special skills are not necessary. Reading Saturday takes place from October to May at select school sites. The minimum requested commitment is nine Saturdays.

Volunteers must:
Submit an application
Attend a 1.5 hour orientation
Permit Omosaze to do a background check
Commit to 9 Reading Saturday Sessions
