Nonprofit Management Intern Job Description- Youth Individual Development Account Program

Program Overview: The United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta's Youth IDA Foster Care Continuum of Care is a collaborative offering support to transitioning foster care youth. The program's mission is to assist foster care youth with achieving self-sufficiency by utilizing IDA savings, offering financial literacy and asset-building training, and provide subsidized rentals.

Position Description: To provide assistance in the development and implementation of the model and document lessons learned and key aspects of the model.

Timeframe: TBD

Report to: Rashid Mosley, Youth IDA Program Manager, United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta

Office Location: United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, 100 Edgewood Avenue.

Essential Duties: (what do you have to do to achieve the desired results of your job?)

  • Assist with executing Memorandum of Agreement for the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta's Youth IDA Foster Care Continuum of Care.
  • Ensure that the Youth IDA database is accurate and report is completed at the end of each month.
  • Design a recruitment and selection strategy for program participants using the list of current participants, including developing marketing materials.
  • Ensure that the Youth IDA participants are informed of monthly activities; their accounts are monitored; and the participants have been notified of their account activity at the end of each month.
  • Coordinate workshops and financial literacy training.
  • Write weekly reports and disseminate reports to participants including progress, challenges and successes.
  • Handle other requests related to the program as assigned.

  • Fiscal Management: Balance current budget; create budget for Youth IDA
  • Fund Development: Grant writing
  • Human Resources: Assist with managing: Volunteer Coordinator/Project Coordinator, 2 youth interns.
  • Board of Directors: Advisory Committee (fund development, Marketing, Evaluations)
  • Corporate Partnerships: Meet with all stakeholders
  • Community Relations: Public Relations team

Job Specifications: (what is minimally required to perform the essential duties in terms of knowledge, skills and abilities)

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or MS degree in Public Administration (nonprofit track)
  • Desire to work in a nonprofit human service network
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Desire to work with youth and young adults
  • Sensitive and adaptable working with diverse issues and populations
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work on several projects without direct supervision
