Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV)

Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV), the largest and one of the oldest nonprofit domestic violence organizations in Georgia, is recruiting interns to help raise public awareness about the pervasiveness and prevalence of intimate partner violence in metro Atlanta and to promote PADV's programs and services. Interns would be placed in the Community Relations department and would help plan, develop and implement a strategic community relations program, which achieves positive awareness of PADV and its services to the community.

Duties would include:

1. Draft news releases, calendar listings and PSAs.

2. Draft communication products and develop flyers and other promotional materials.

3. Provide marketing support and promotional activities to all units.

4. Assist in the coordination of public awareness campaigns and special events commemorating National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

5. Assist in the coordination of PADV's annual When Domestic Violence Goes to Work conference or other public awareness/education conference in the field of domestic violence.

6. Help conduct an annual public speaking training seminar for staff and volunteers.

7. Foster and maintain excellent, professional working relations with staff and volunteers and functions as part of a team.

8. Work cooperatively with the Director of Community Relations in order to maximize agency image and community support.

9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Eligible candidates should be working on a degree in communications, public relations, marketing, women's studies or comparable field and possess writing, computer and presentation skills, and have the ability to work with minimum supervision. Eligible candidates must be willing to commit to a minimum of three months and work a minimum of 15 hours per week. PADV's community relations internship program is unpaid, but participating students will gain tangible hands-on experience and skills to build strong resumes. Interns will also have an opportunity to make a positive impact on their community.

To apply: Please submit a cover letter and resume to Susan Berryman Rodriguez, director of community relations and e-mail to susan@padv.org.

Please include the proposed start-date and end-date, and the number of hours you are willing to commit to PADV.
