The YWCA West Central Michigan is an affiliate of Girls Incorporated® which strives to enable girls to be Strong, Smart and Bold™. We want to see girls achieve their full potential through programming that builds their capacity for confident and responsible adulthood, economic independence and personal fulfillment. The vision of Girls Incorporated® is: To be recognized as the premier organization that helps all girls to realize their potential and exercise their rights.
History:
Girls Incorporated is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. With National Girls Inc. roots dating back to 1864, and local roots dating back to the 2000, Girls Inc. has responded to the changing needs of girls through award-winning, innovative after-school and summer educational enrichment programs and through public education efforts that empower girls to understand, value, and assert their rights. Girls Inc. programs for girls, ages 9 to 18 years old focus on science, math, and technology; economic and financial literacy; athletics; health and sexuality; culture and heritage; leadership and advocacy; and media literacy. These programs are rotated on a semester bases.
