WE PROVIDE HELP AND WE CREATE HOPE. Catholic Charities West Michigan provides help for individuals and families throughout the 11 county Diocese of Grand Rapids, regardless of their background or religion. We work to help change the lives of those most in need. We seek to improve the lives of our clients and empower them to achieve their goals. Our goal is to create a nurturing and safe family environment for children and adults as well as improving our community through specific outreach. We accomplish our work through comprehensive, results-oriented programs and services. The programs and services of Catholic Charities West Michigan have three distinct areas of emphasis: Behavioral Health, Child Welfare and Family Preservation, and Social Support.
Description:
Through multiple programs in an eleven county service area covering West Michigan, Catholic Charities works to create a nurturing and safe family environment for both children and adults, as well as to improve our community through specific outreach. This outreach includes feeding the hungry at God’s Kitchen, providing shelter for homeless women and children at Casa de la Paz, and advocating for others in our community for are often overlooked.
History:
Catholic Charities West Michigan began in 1946 as Catholic Social Services Grand Rapids. Its purpose was to address social, economic, and racial issues at that time. In November, 2007, CSS-GR, CSS-Muskegon and Catholic Human Development Outreach (CHDO) combined to form CCWM.
