Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank (Formerly Second Harvest Gleaners Food Bank)

The mission of the Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank is to feed the hungry by soliciting, processing, storing, & distributing grocery products from manufacturers, retailers, farmers, etc. These goods are distributed to nonprofit charities who distribute food to the needy at no charge.

Description:
We serve as West Michigan's regional nonprofit clearinghouse for donated food on its way from the food industry to churches and charity agencies which provide food assistance to the needy.

History:
Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. It was founded in 1981. As a member of the national network, Feeding America, and of the Food Bank Council of Michigan, we have an assigned service area of 40 of Michigan's 83 counties. We supply an average of 100,000 pounds of goods per day to over 1400 agencies via warehouses we maintain or supply in Houghton/Hancock, Ishpeming, Sault Ste. Marie, Petoskey, Cadillac, St. Joseph, and Grand Rapids.
