North Kent Service Center
The North Kent Service Center's mission is to serve: Northern Kent County Neighbors helping neighbors with life needs in a Christ-like fashion.
Description:
North Kent Service Center is an emergency food pantry that serves low income families and families that are in a crisis situation. Clients must reside in north Kent County with the boundaries being Six Mile Rd. on the south, Twenty-two Mile Rd. on the north, Montcalm Ave. on the east and Kenowa Ave. on the west. Donations of clothing, household goods, furniture and food are accepted from the community then distributed to clients for free. We also offer tax preparation assistance, financial assistance with utilities, shelter, medical and transportation. We provide a senior pantry twice per month on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month. The Center also runs a senior meals program delivering meals to an average of 30 seniors per day.
History:
North Kent Service Center was organized as a non-profit agency in 1973 by a contingent of Rockford area churches seeking to help families in need of food and clothing. We first operated just a few hours weekly out of the basement of a local business. In 2002, we were able to build our present 16,000 square foot facility and serve more than 10,000 individuals annually.
