Description:
Michigan Family Resources, Inc. is the local non-profit organization that operates the Head Start program for Kent County. Children who attend preschool at Head Start participate in a variety of developmentally appropriate educational activities. In addition they receive free medical and dental care, healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe setting. Michigan Family Resources helps all children succeed. Services are offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities. Most of the children are between the ages of three and five years old.
History:
Michigan Family Resources has provided comprehensive services for 1,563 children ages three to four since 1991. We offer services in three options: classrooms at 23 sites, a home-based program, a full day / full year program, as well as seven child-care partnerships with United Methodist Community House, Westminister Child Development Center, Aquinas College Child Development Center, Daydreams And Doodles Child Development Center, Rainbow Childcare Development Center #1 & #2,and Grand Rapids Community College Child Development Laboratory.
