Spectrum Health Hospice
Spectrum Health Hospice provides quality compassionate care to patients nearing the end of life and their families. Join our team and provide caregiver relief, friendly visits, singing, massage, life review, pet therapy or other skills to support patients in their homes, hospitals and facilities.
Description:
For one hour a week you can make a difference in a person's life. Volunteers, through their presence and listening, provide a unique service of support. Those with special skills such as massage therapists and cosmetologists are also needed. In addition you may serve our mission by becoming a grief companion, lead an ongoing bereavement support group, help with office tasks, or taking part in our Community Outreach Team and make phone calls, man tables, and make presentations to community organizations, expo's and conferences. History:
We serve patients in a five county area in West Michigan. Using the hospice philosophy of providing comfort for self-directed patient care. We have 80 volunteers who provide direct support to the patients and their families as well as indirect support through community speaking, sewing pillows, and office support. We offer training series quarterly which involve a once per week, month-long series, with each session being three hours long. Our community of hospice volunteers have on-going opportunities for mentoring, in-services and appreciation events.
