Mission Statement: To show Christ's love by promoting long-term sustainable changes in families and neighborhood through unified committed relationships between community and church so that greater dignity and quality of life are achieved.
Description:
A grassroots organization in the Madison-Hall neighborhood of Grand Rapids, working together with neighbors, churches and organizations to celebrate the assets and address the needs in this community. Restorers has two goals: 1. to work together as neighbors and organizations in the community 2. to work toward long-term sustainable changes for individuals, families and the community as a whole. Our programs include the following: H2O (Help to others) our crisis assistance program; Employee Assistance; Financial Freedom classes; Healthy Marriages/Healthy Relationships; English as a Second Language; Hattie Beverly Youth Development program.
History:
Beginning in 1998, Restorers began through meetings between neighbors and churches members seeking to work together in the neighborhood. Restorers Board of Directors is made up of 50% neighbors who live in the community and 50% those who work or worship in the community. Restorers has grown to offer ea variety of ranging from crisis assistance, financial freedom classes, healthy relationships, English as a Second Language, employment assistant, and other programs.
