Pregnancy Resource Center
The Pregnancy Resource Center exists to elevate the sanctity of human life to the point that abortion is neither needed nor wanted in the greater Grand Rapids community. At every opportunity, we will share the message of Jesus Christ's love and gift of redemption. The Pregnancy Resource Center is a Christ-centered ministry that works to glorify Him and demonstrate His character to the greater Grand Rapids community. We cooperate with the Holy Spirit's leading as we: ·defend pre-born children ·meet the needs of those unprepared for pregnancy ·help heal lives traumatized by abortion, and ·challenge people to embrace a Biblical view of sexuality.
Description:
The following services are offered to women and children in our community free of charge: ·Pregnancy tests and counseling ·Abortion recovery groups ·Sonograms and medical counseling services ·Material assistance (baby clothes, diapers, formula, and furnishings) ·Abstinence-only sexuality education classes for public and private schools ·Abstinence presentations by our Willing to Wait (W2W) drama Team to area schools
History:
In the winter of 1984 a group of Christians began meeting to decide what could be done to help women considering abortion and to stop the ever-escalating problem of teenage sexual activity. The decided to start a crisis pregnancy center next door to a Planned Parenthood. The pregnancy center opened in the summer of 1985. During the first ten years, and on into today, we served clients with pregnancy testing, counseling and material assistance (diapers, formula, clothing, baby items). Then in 1995 our Abstinence Program began. This eight-session curriculum, called "Willing to Wait", has since been presented in 45 local middle and high schools. In addition, we have added a teen-base drama group, W2W (Willing to Wait).
