Each year, we help over 300 families in Kent, Ottawa, and Muskegon Counties address uncontrolled asthma. Sixty percent of our patients come from racial/ethnic minority backgrounds, and an estimated two-thirds live below the federal poverty line. Asthma Network has been cited by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for our innovation. We have been asked to provide other asthma coalitions in Michigan and 16 other states with guidelines for replicating our program in their service areas. This May, we were awarded the National Environmental Leadership Award in Asthma Management by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
