Title: American Red Cross of Greater Grand Rapids Youth Services Internship: Maintaining Youth Services during summer months
Term: 3 months Occurring during summer months June 1 to September 1 Three days per week Four to eight hours per day Depending on work load and availability
Compensation: The Red Cross is a volunteer-run organization. This is a non-paid position. Compensation will be offered for fuel expenses incurred on a personal vehicle while traveling to and from Red Cross meetings and events only.
Details: Maintain youth services three days a week. Maintain several projects and plan service days: · Manage volunteers · Assist with making executive decisions that coincide with the strategic plan of the Red Cross Youth Services. · Manage daily operations. · Recruit and Retain Volunteers. · Plan and implement service projects. Experience various aspects of running a youth program: · Shadow current youth services coordinator. · Attend meetings with churches, schools, partner agencies, and other Red Cross meetings.
Qualifications: No previous experience necessary. Must be College age (18-24 years old) at start of internship. Must have an interest in Youth work and/or Project Management. Must be willing to contribute ideas, strategize, participate fully, and be flexible. Must have a valid US state driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from the chapter office. This does include public transportation. Must meet the criteria for eligibility as a Red Cross Volunteer. · Pass a standard background check · Show ongoing basic competencies in field of service. Should have competent computer skills, including: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Internet & Website Maintenance. This internship is focused on helping students interested in Youth work and Project Management gain experience in non-profit management and learn in an empowered work environment.
Internship Qualifications: The Intern will be responsible for maintaining hours reports and/or time logs with their school or university. The Youth Services Coordinator will assist Intern with creating and meeting Internship goals and provide support and information necessary to create a successful internship.
